Good breakup mix

If you're looking for a good breakup mix that's not too steeped in bitterness or woe-is-me-ness, try this one on for size.

1) Nicest Thing - Kate Nash
2) Out of Control - Mindy Smith
3) Born - Over the Rhine
4) Transatlanticism - Death Cab for Cutie
5) If I Am A Stranger - Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
6) Love, Where Is Your Fire? - Brooke Fraser
7) I Know You - Molly Venter
8) Two - Ryan Adams
9) You and I Are A Gang of Losers - The Dears
10) Not Gonna Think - April Geesbreght
11) Wish You Were Here - Ryan Adams
12) Portions for Foxes - Rilo Kiley
13) I Won't Go - April Geesbreght
14) Just Say Yes - Ben Lee
15) Forgiveness - Patty Griffin
16) When It Don't Come Easy - Patty Griffin
17) Stars - Molly Venter

If you have any interest whatsoever in singer-songwriters, you must know Molly Venter. She spends a lot of time in Austin and is one of the best songwriters I've heard.

I also recommend April Geesbreght if you like "relationship pop" in the Michelle Branch vein. The songs on Big Fire aren't all winners, but the two in this mix are really solid.

Brooke Fraser is also a great songwriter with a beautiful voice. Highlights on the Albertine album - Deciphering Me, Shadowfeet, and Love, Where Is Your Fire? She's technically a Christian artist but it's really subtle and only comes through in a couple of her songs.

Happy Thanksgiving...
